We have a choice when it comes to fulfilling the call that Christ gave to all of his followers. We can either attempt to act on the call by judging and condemning those who are living in the culture around us, or we can embrace the counter-cultural call and the culture around us, and begin to create a new culture. Creating culture is much more difficult and requires much more from those involved than does simply painting broad stokes of judgment over people who are without a relationship with Christ.
People need to be shown genuine love and not a picket sign.
I desire to be part of the body of Christ who is reaching out in a relevant way and creating a new culture for those who have yet to realize the power of reconciliation and restoration found in Jesus Christ. In the book of Romans, Paul reminds the church that is the goodness of God that led to repentance. Perhaps the church needs that reminder again.
Maybe if we, the church, were more concerned with walking in love, grace and peace to those around us, a new culture could emerge, resulting in a revolution.
If there is any doubt, we should direct our attention to the life of Jesus; love, grace and peace started a revolution some 2000 years ago.
The message never changes, but the culture surrounding the message does. We must adapt how we share the gospel.
We must be diligent in creating culture.
I agree. Creating culture is a difficult task and isn’t for the weak. It takes everything you are and everything you have. Revolutions are worth the cost but the cost is everything! So…run out a revolution, Sam. ROAR!
