Technology ignorant

I don’t always carry cash, but I always carry a card. I never have a problem with my refusal to carry cash until today. I went to four gas stations before I found one that accepted credit cards as a form of payment. Really!? So my question is this: are these companies technology ignorant or just unwilling to make the initial sacrafice that could greatly increase their business in the long run? Or am I just being too tough on the car wash business?

I am going to refer you to the class at church right now being taught by Butch Smith based on Dave Ramsey’s Debt Free Living.

While carrying a card is a great thing… part of where we are right now as an economy and nation is because we got a little to comfortable spending money we did not necesssarily have. Not everyone can adequately manage their credit card spending and because banks were incredibly willing to loan for a number of years… a lot of people have way more debt than they should. Call it irresponsible lending or call it irresponsible people. The principal of it is the same… while somewhat inconvenient – cash is king and it is hard to spend money on impulse buys or things you don’t NEED if you don’t have funds on hand.

We personally have resorted back to carrying cash. You get better prices at some gas stations (HyVees, for example). We are better at saving and spending because we operate with a cash budget. You might reconsider and give it a try… :-)

Yeah, I have heard that from Ramsey, and the envelope system. My problem is this: when I have cash of any denomination, I spend it! I don’t know why, but I am opposite of Ramseys casual spender. Cash just can’t stay in my pocket long. Oh well…

I hear ya brother! What’s going to happen to people like us when all you have to do is pay with your fingerprint?!?!
