A Creative Theology

I had the opportunity to speak at One Church this past Sunday, which marked our final weekend with the church.

I spoke about a concept that has been rolling around in my head for a while now, and one that I have been writing about (If you remember this post, you know what I am talking about).

The question I want to deal with, and I want other people to wrestle with is this: What does it reveal about God, ourselves, and our relationship with God, that Scripture opens with the creator of the heavens and the earth in the act of creating the heavens and the earth?

As the Church, we have many way of thinking about God: powerful, sovereign, holy, protector, provider, healer, redeemer, father, friend, but we don’t spend much time understanding Him as a creator.

I believe understanding God as a creative being helps not only to understand our creative process and our personal creativity, but also how we are hardwired to respond to God as we experience him in his creation.

It’s a creative theology.
