Up at the top, in the menu, you will see a new page called Going Pro. It is the result (for now) of the week-long series I wrote, inspired by Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art. I was motivated to take my writing, both on this blog and elsewhere, to the next level. I have begun the process of moving from an ameteur to a professional, and thought it may be helpful to compile some thoughts as I dove in to what that looks like in my personal context, with concepts that transcend my situation and can help you as well.
You will see on the Going Pro page:
I have produced a resource with the soon-to-be creative professional in mind. The PDF version features eight edited and expanded articles that first appeared on sammahlstadt.com as a blog series. Each post deals with one aspect of going pro in your field, ranging from the emotional side of things to the nuts and bolts of launching a business.
Also included are several links to great resources that will give you a head start in seeing your idea become a reality. We have compiled the best web apps, programs, software and freebies to make sure you have what you need to be motivated and spurred to action.
Finally, the PDF includes a link to the Going Pro Bookstore, which features numerous must-read books on issues of creativity and productivity.
